Attention CTA Members.
CTA members who smoke test their own equipment must be certified through that California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET). ARB policy requires use of CCDET when performing any snap acceleration smoke test for purposes of complying with ARB rules and regulations. This CCDET certification assures that the holder is up to date on the latest developments in diesel related technology, educated in policies related to diesel exhaust emissions and, knowledgeable in procedures to perform the SAE J1667 snap acceleration smoke test properly.
ARB policy requires that certification through CCDET be renewed every four years. If you have not attended a CCDET class within the last four years and are performing snap acceleration smoke test for purposes of compliance with ARB’s Heavy Duty vehicle Inspection Program, or the periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), you must sign up now to keep your certification current.
